Bold & Beautiful Newsprint

I was hot for this paper the minute that I laid my hands on it!  The Newsprint DSP offers 6 different patterns of black & very vanilla prints with various fonts/artwork.  When the newsprint paper is partnered with the real red card stock & a few 'vintagy' accessories the results are bold & beautiful!

And, for those of you that have been making the paper flowers with me for the past month or so... here's another one!  Notice that I didn't pinch the first layer of petals together as tightly as I usually do so that we can admire the Basic Pearl Jewel. Here's the questions...  Do you have your 1-3/4" Scallop Circle punch yet?

Love this card?  There's 3 ways you can have it!  1. Order the supplies to make it at home 2. Set a date to gather a couple of friends & we'll make it together for FREE! 3.  I will make one (or two!) for you.  Email me for details.

Technical Tidbits: Punch Tips

Punches are the 'bee's knees'!  There is rarely an application that one can not find a punch to bring your project to the next level.   Here are a few tips for keeping your punches in tip-top condition so they do all the work for you

1.  If your punch starts to become dull, punch through a sheet of aluminum foil.
2.  If your punch is a bit sticky and/or hard to squeeze, punch through a sheet of wax paper.
3.  Remember that punches are only meant to cut through one sheet of paper/card stock at a time.  Punching out multiple layers at a time is hard on your hands, the punch and the results are 'ick!'

Look at how the owl punch works her 'sassy magic' to make your projects look too cute!
Sneak peek!!! You can make the Blue Owl Card (left) & 5 other fantastic cards at the September Stampin' Shoppe event on 9/10 & 11!

Manhattan Flowers

"A home should be full of things that please you.  Think of it as a scrapbook of your life."
-Unknown

I'm diggin' the way that the Decor Elements line makes it so easy to adorn, revamp & simply change up your spaces.  The Manhattan Flowers vinyl wall art (available in 7 colors & 3 different sizes) makes me happy!  Our living room proudly displays the chocolate & crumb cake flowers beautifully.

As I'm starting to think about moving indoors for the cooler months, I want to explore the endless opportunities that the Decor Elements offer.  I'll post projects as I make them, but in the mean time, check out this tutorial from Stampin' Up! that demonstrates the ease and versitility of this sassy vinyl art.

August Stampin' Runway Show

Although August has been a busy, fun in the sun month, there's still been quite a bit of creative mojo flowin' over here at DotDesigns.  Take a glimpse at the card Runway Show! The featured cards can all be made in typically in about 10 minutes or so which is perfect for all of us...

If you're interested in the materials for making these cards or would like to gather a group of friends to make them together, just drop me a note!

Beautiful 'In Colors'

Last week, while chatting with some gals at a workshop, it occurred to me that I haven't talked up the ease of working with Stampin' Up! colors.  Here's the 'low down'...

SU! has designed 4 fabulous color collections that are meant to coordinate together.  The guess work is taken right out because the colors within each group compliment each other beautifully, from paper to ink, to ribbons, buttons and so on.

In addition to the kickin' color collections, SU! also introduces 5 new 'In Colors' or trendy hues each year to keep your color options fresh & exciting.  I have had a blast using these In Color correspondence cards that I made!  The colors are fun, eye catching and the card design is super simple.

This little 'ole correspondence card is layered with whisper white paper & concord crush card stock.  I used my Big Shot & top note die to crank out the piece in which I write on.  Finally, I used the Artistic Etchings stamp set with Concord Crush ink for the little 'kiss' on the top of the card.  SNAIL adhesive is the 'glue that holds us all together!'

KISS Designs (Keep It Simple, Sister!)

After a very busy couple of weeks, I thought we'd all appreciate getting back to basics.  Here's a quick pic of a KISS 'Keep It Simple, Sister' card design.  This sassy card can be made in 10 minutes or so & looks spectacular!

Pretty in Pink (or any color that floats your boat!)
The embossing is so super easy to create using by Big Shot & literally takes only seconds to make. I use the Sincere Salutations stamp set like crazy because the greeting are simple, classy & the font is pretty.  I added a few of the brand new pearl jewels for a touch of 'ohh la la' & viola, it's done!
