Curly Label Punch Does It Again!

Hello sweet friend...  I must tell you or perhaps it's 'admit to you' that I am not a scrapbooker.  Plain and simple.  Creating a scrapbook page from scratch perplexes me & brings me out of my comfort zone.  And WHY?   I tell my wonderful customers that scrapbook pages are just like a great big card, but it still scares me a little bit.  But... I'm learning, one small step at a time.

One of my secrets to getting the job done and looking pretty, is to use punches.  This page features the first punch that I added to my collection... the Curly Label Punch.  This 'girl' has saved me countless times and made me look classy, cool and pretty darm good!

Check out this little tip that I discovered for framing my photos using the Curly Label Punch.
Note this 'old, but still sweet' summer pic of my kids from way back when.  There's a pretty little red scalloping behind them that features the picture and makes it almost pop off the page.  That's the Curly Label Punch! Take a peek at the back of the photograph; I simply lined the punched out shape along the back edge of the pic.

"Behind the scenes!"

Is it a blooper?  Nope!
See the weird shaped label punch on the top middle left?  Well... I was using scrap, because I could (!) and my one label punch came out without a bottom corner.  It was easy for me, this very Type A gal to overlook that, cause I was never going to notice it again. Scraps make your paper go a long way :)

Imagine the Possibilities!

Imagine the possibilities when you use 2 punches, 3 colors and a tad of bling...
I received this pretty little number last month from my colleague and upline, Aly Shilling

I wanted to share this card with you for a couple of reasons.  First, 3 colors... that's it!  This could almost be considered a KISS 'Keep It Simple, Sister' Card (click here to read more about KISS).  The crisp Whisper White truly pops against the deep Concord Crush & sassy Melon Mambo.

The second reason is the punches... The curly label punch works overtime in this presentation, but it's sooo easy! Boho Blossoms (punch) gives the sentiment and the Whisper White a serious POP of color and personality.  And the little rhinestone jewels as the finishing touches aren't too shabby either!

Design Tip:  The curly label punch was used to pump out 13 pieces or punches.  The pieces are laid on the diagonal over the Concord Crush color for a very cool visual.  Your handy dandy paper cutter can easily take care of the punch pieces that are hanging over the end of the Concord Crush.

April Jewelry Shoppe!

April 8th 6:30 - 9:30pm -or- April 9th 10am - 1pm.
Pre-payment deadline: March 29th.

Once a quarter, we put on a Specialty Shoppe as part of our monthly Stamp Shoppe where we showcase a unique project for you to try.
It's time for that Shoppe in April with our FIRST EVER – "Jewelry Shoppe" featuring the largest Stampin' Up! Simply Adorned Charm.

Nickel-plated frame with lobster clasp & packaged in gift box.
About the charms... Simply Adorned charms are like lockets - they open up so you can insert your own custom stamped image. The frame surrounds tempered beveled glass on the front & flat glass on the back, so you can display images on one or both sides. Create a custom insert you’ll never want to change, or swap artwork in & out, depending on your mood (& wardrobe!) The charms also hold photos.

The photo at the top of this post shows exactly what you'll be making at the April Specialty Shoppe.
  • You'll receive a 1 1/2" x 2" Simply Adorned Charm
  • 1 yard of white satin ribbon to hang it from.
  • Then, you'll create 3 hand stamped inserts for the Charm in addition to decorating a small jewelry box to keep it in! The interior of the box has a think foam insert that will hold your charm nicely and keep it from 'rockin' & rolling' while in the box.
  • You will bring everything home with you after the Specialty Shoppe to enjoy yourself or to give as a gift.  The initial in the featured insert can be customized to any letter you choose.
Please note: Typically, I do not request prepayment for the Stamp Shoppe when making cards or scrapbook pages.  However, I'll need to order your charm and ribbon so that you can work with them at Specialty Shoppe.  Please register today or by the deadline date of March 29th by clicking on the safe & secure BUY NOW check out button below.  You can also mail me a check and send it to 38 Cliffordale Park, Rochester, NY 14609.

*Please let me know in the 'message to sender' letting me know if you're coming on Fri. 4/8 or Sat. 4/9.

Go Green!

Here's a fun 'just because' card.  Whether your in the St, Paddy's Day mind-set or thinking of your favorite 'recycle, reuse, re-purpose' friend, this is a win/win sentiment.

My Big Shot helped a bit with making this card special and unique.  The vintage embossing folder adds a touch of rich elegance and the Pear Pizzazz Green tag is from the two tags die.

The GO was cut from the Newspaper Print Designer Series Paper and seemed to fit perfectly with the re-use idea.
I used two different punches to make this card come to life.  First, the Boho blossoms punch which includes 3 different small flowers (located at the bottom of the GREEN tag).  The sizes are all petite, yet the blossom shapes are rather different so layering works nicely.  The second punch is one of my favs.  The Curly Label Punch was used to frame out the GO from the DSP.

Lastly, there are two little sassy extras that added the finishes touch.  Rhinestone Jewels are a terrific value so I always have them on hand.  There is one in the center of the Boho Blossom flower and one adorning the corner of the GO.  Lastly, I added a bit of linen thread around the jewel for texture and interest.  Enjoy & GO GREEN!
